Alternates available
within 60 miles or less include Jackson State Community College,
Union University, Northeast Mississippi Community College and the
University of Tennessee - Martin.
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and Pathways of Tennessee,
Inc. offer health care from 17 miles outside of town. The area is
well served by clinics, a nursing home, doctors and dentists.
Chester County has
167,000 comparatively level acres, with fertile soil for growing
ample crops of pasture grass, sorghum, cotton, corn and other
cereals. Trees are of many varieties, a combination of Eastern and
Southern influences.
Along streamsides are beech, cypress,
gum, holly, maple and poplar trees. On eastern ridges are elm,
hickory, oak and other hardwoods. On the west pine trees cover much of
the ridgeland.
Industry finds a hospitable
atmosphere as well, with a welcome hand from city and county
officials. Henderson is just 16 miles to I-40 at Jackson, 85 to
Memphis, 135 to Nashville.
